Tamika Porter is a professional multi-tasker, innovative, and critical thinker, with an aptitude for fostering positive relationships, team-building, and solution-oriented business strategies.
Mrs. Porter has been a member of the Southern University System for more than 15 years where she has worked cheerfully and effectively within the university community. She has worked for the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center for 4 years where she serves as the Program Manager-SNAPEd & Extension & Outreach Programs. In 2018 she was selected to lead the Certification Programs as Project Manager for Enhancing Capacity of Louisiana’s Small Farms and Businesses project.
After attaining dual associate degrees in Office Systems Management and Accounting Technology, she began her career in state government in 1999. Completing as one of the top of her class, she later received a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting in 2005. In addition to her former position as an Accountant, her 20+ years of experience spans across the legal, medical, human resources, and business management arenas where she has successfully led and implemented many strategic initiatives and policies and procedures -improving overall organizational performance, productivity, and employee/customer relations.
Tamika has sought to use her professional experiences, interpersonal skills, creativity, and passion toward positive change and growth, mentoring new employees, and to deploy community outreach initiatives. She is an avid community member and volunteer where she serves on the Board of Directors for several outreach initiatives and programs of which she thoroughly enjoys teaching others to build stronger financial stability for their families.
